What Do These BP Readings And Pain In Head Indicate?

My husbands BP the last few days has been 160/102, 150/100, now it s 160/106. The right side of his head is tender to the touch and he is sensitive to noise. He is already on 40mg Benicar once daily. Migraine medication (maxalt) helps some but not much.

Good morning, I intuit that it is the uncontrolled high blood pressure that is causing, or contributing to, his head pain.Normal blood pressure is 120/80. Your husband is hypertensive. Is your husband on anything for high blood pressure? I suggest always lifestyle intervention first if possible and if your husband were my patient I would prescribe the DASH diet (available for free off the internet) that includes a sodium restriction of 2,300 mg per day which equals the amount found in 1 teaspoon of sodiumchloride, or salt. Increase intake of fresh fruit, water. Learn some sort of de-stressing techniques such as meditation, prayer, mental imagery.. .balance in one's lifestyle. Thank you for coming to HCM. I wish you positive results...Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
