What Do These X-ray Findings Indicate?

Findings: There is subtle cortical irregularity and faint transversely oriented linear lucency at the base of the 1st distal phalanx raising concern for possible nondisplaced fracture. There is possible mild soft tissue swelling at the thumb. Joint spaces are well preserved. No radiopaque foreign bodies visualized. What does this mean?
