What Do These Below Lab Reports Indicate?

I had a parathyroidectomy 5 years ago. With in the last 2 to 3 weeks I have had several labs performed. Some from an emergency room visit which came back severe UTI no kidney stones. Never had this problem before. Labs and dates Calcium on 5/26/15 was 10.2 but on 6/3/15 Calcium was 9.9 PTH on 11/7/14 was 82 but on 6/3/15 was 94 Vitamin D 6/3/15 was 11 My doctor wants me to start taking daily 5000 mg of Vitamin D3. Information I have been reading said not to take the Vitamin D until it is verified if there is another parathyroid adenoma. How do I approach this with my MD or am I reading something wrong?

Hello,

Parathyroidectomy leads to deficiency of calcium and calcium supplementation is required. Vitamin D is also involved in absorption of calcium from intestine. Thus, vitamin D supplementation is also required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
