What Do These Blood Reports Indicate?

Hi, My brother(24 yrs old) just received his blood report and two different doctors diagnosed his condition as typhoid and dengue. He has fever (101 F) with nausea and cough. Blood report indicates a low WBC count(4400 cells/Cumm) with 81% Neutrophils and 17% Lymphocytes. Platelets count is 1.45 lacs. Widal test was also done which came positive. (Antigen TO - 1:160 and TH - 1:80). Please advice.

Hellow and welcome to HCM
I have read and understood your question
I hope this will help you
Your history is bit deficient because you didn't tell the actual duration and pattern of fever.by the data provided by you I don't think your brother has got dengue fever..dengue fever is characterized by fever severe body aches and blood tests shows decreased platelets count-which are normal in this case also dengue is diagnosed on special tests(dengue NS1antigen,DENGUE IgM AND DENGUE IgG antibodies which are +I've at 1-5,5-10,11 days onwards respectively)
His white cell counts are normal at present.. I am also not thinking about typhoid fever because widal test is obsolete nowadays in diagnosis of typhoid. Only so called serial raising titers are diagnostic .which are not available at the moment..
I would suggest you to have his blood CP repeated after 02 days and consult a senior doctor...
There is nothing much to worry at the moment..
Tab paracetamol will be good choice for the fever..give him oral fluids to maintain good hydration..I think he is most probably having a viral infection as suggested by his blood reports which will hopefully resolve in a few days time...
I think I have answered your query
