What Do These Blood Test Results Of Child Indicate?
Grandson, 6 yo had some labs in December, results sodium 136, albumin/globulin ratio 1.7, and MPV was11.0 all others were within normal range. Nurse told Mom that all labs were ok, when she asked to see the results the above were highlighted for low and high, she has left message for Dr. but I just wanted to research for myself a little. What concerns should we have about the above results?
Hello dear Understand your concern Normal sodium level: 135-145 meq/l____your level is normal but lower side. Normal albumin/globulin ratio : 1.0-1.4_____you have high ratio MPV-man platelet volume: 9.7–12.8 fL______normal
So cause of high albumin/globulin ratio: Decreased albumin level: protein malnutrition, liver disease, kidney disease Increased globulin: chronic infection and inflammation, leukemia, multiple myeloma
So along with this other investigation also needed like liver function teat, kidney function test, CBC, ESR, urine report to ccorrelate the clinical condition.
Hope this may help you Best regards
Dr. Sagar
