What Do These Endoscopy And Gastric Biopsy Test Results Indicate?

I had an Endoscopy& a stomach polyp biopsy: Pathology: Fundic gland polyp; surface changes of: hyperchromasia, nuclear stratification, mitosis, but also; intraepithelial neutrophils (markedly increased staining in this area)??? Clinical correalation with follow-up is necessary. (FYI.. I am scheduled for a repeat Endoscopy on Tuesday Nov. 10th, 2015.) Do you think that my biopsy has anything to do with Pancreatic cancer?? (I searched on my own & found some information relating to the pancreas & possible cancer??) Thanks..for your input. I am just ..curious & want to be prepared!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is a benign (non cancerous) polyp and no features suggest possibility of cancerous change. As of now, only follow up is needed. It has got nothing to do with pancreatic cancer. You can go for a serum CA-199 which is a marker of pancreas cancer.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
