Hi Sir, I have been suspected for pleural TB, all my reports related to TB ie., Sputum,MTB has come negative, pleural effusion was done my leucocytes is 90% in pleural fluid, I had been advised to take forecox-2 in the morning, I had collection of approximately 650-700 ml of fluid which was tapped (500 ml) after which I had continued taking forecox for a month later when x-ray and usb-chest was done fluid collection was still approximately 300ml and now I had been advised to take second line drug for tb in the night.
Multibacillary tuberculosis (MTB) is treated by combination of drugs. The combination of drugs is called first line drugs. When response to first line drugs is not complete, second line drugs are prescribed. I suggest you to consult your physician for prescription of second line drugs.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
