Hi,

Tiny black dots on the fingertips could have various causes, including:
* Trauma: The black dots may be caused by a small injury or trauma to the skin, such as a bruise or small blood clot. This could have occurred during weightlifting or some other activity.
* Melanonychia: This is a condition where there is the pigmentation of the nail or surrounding skin. Melanonychia is generally harmless, but it's important to get it checked by a doctor to rule out any underlying conditions.
* Splinter hemorrhages: These are small areas of bleeding under the nails, which can appear as tiny black dots. They can be caused by trauma or certain medical conditions, such as lupus, vasculitis, or endocarditis.
* Fungal infection: A fungal infection of the nail or surrounding skin can cause discoloration, including black dots. This is more likely if the area is also itchy or painful.
* Cancer: In rare cases, black dots on the skin or nails can be a sign of skin cancer or other types of cancer.

It's important to see a healthcare provider for a proper diagnosis and treatment. If the black dots are accompanied by other symptoms, such as pain, itching, or changes in the shape or size of the nails, it's important to seek medical attention promptly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
