Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have a round raised sore on my upper gum x 2 months. If I push on it with my tongue, fluid and small amount of blood comes out. It then gradually fills up again. There is no pain, it is not inflamed. It is about the size of a pencil eraser. I had a root canal done on the tooth below this sore about 7 months ago.
It is a tooth abscess and as the tooth is root canal treated there is no pain but still the infection is present. So, my suggestion is to first of all get an x ray of the tooth done.
At times if the root canal filling is intact then you can be advised Apicoectomy procedure. But in case if the root canal filling is not intact, then the tooth can be retreated with root canal treatment followed by a course of antibiotics and painkillers.
For now, you can start with a course of antibiotics like Augmentin to see if the infection gets resolved with it only.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
