What Do Uncontrollable Shaking Of Body And Loss Of Memory During Sleep Suggest?

My friend started shaking and jumping in his sleep uncontrollably. His mouth was locked shut and he was breathing heavily. We managed to hold him down and force his mouth open. He eventually woke up but doesn t remember a thing. What could the cause of this be? Thanks for your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

He should get further evaluated by a neurologist. The episode of shakiness on sleep may be related to epilepsy and he should get evaluated doing an EEG.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
