Last weekend we were out of town. Our 95 year old uncle ( lives alone, has a caregiver) had an abrasion of his scalp , elbow and a gouge on his forearm when we returned Saturday evening. When asked what happened, he said he lost his balance, collided with a door frame. Someone had put bandaids on, when I asked who, he was sort of evasive, mentioned the neighbor across the street. I later talked with the neighbor, they had not been at the house. This week I ve been cleaning the wounds, head & scalp healing over. The arm gouge continued to bleed slightly until Wednesday, then it appeared to be scabbed over, healing well. Yesterday morning we were taking him for breakfast, I looked at his arm. The bruising was extended, there were two additional open gouges. When asked, he says they are just popping open . They do not look like boils, no puss discharge. The caregiver was with him Thursday. Any ideas? He doesn t want to go to the ER or his doctor.
