Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am in menopuase so no more minstrel cycles. I am having spotting and vaginal dryness. I am pre diabetic and trying to lose weight to help. My mother has kidney problems and I am wondering what could be causing the vaginal bleeding. It is random but I do notice if I have a heavier than usual sugary diet it will show up. I limit the sugar and drink more water and that seems to help. I want to know if the symptoms are common to diabetes or kidney problems or should I check for something else?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. Vaginal dryness is common and usually result of lack of estrogens but some other less common causes may be present. The most common treatment for vaginal dryness due to low estrogen levels is topical estrogen therapy. In order to keep the vagina more lubricated, try using a vaginal moisturizer (Replens). You use a disposable applicator such as Vagifem to insert a tablet into your vagina once a day for the first two weeks of treatment.Avoid using douches, bubble baths, scented soaps, and lotions around the sensitive vaginal area. These products can worsen dryness. I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
