What Do White Patches Along The Left Side Of The Throat Indicate?

I have white patches along the left side of my throat along with swelling.body is achy and dr said it was just a virus. ib profen and saltwater and cepocal are not helping. i just noticed is it goes down my throat it turns to a dark grey patches and some look bloody. is this normal for just a sore thraot virus?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of white patches along the left side of the throat which seems to be mainly due to bacterial infection, tonsils infection and poor oral hygiene leading to strep throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline rinses several times a day. You should take anti inflammatory medications such as levocetirizine. Take benadryl. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order blood test or throat swab test to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe broad spectrum antibiotics like amoxicillin for at least two weeks . Take ibuprofen and proper course of antibiotics. Avoid hot sharp and spicy food substances.
