What Do White Spots At Back Of Throat Post Recovering From Infection Indicate?

Hi, I have recently recovered from a throat infection which the doctor said was viral. I had white spots at the back of my throat with pain whilst swallowing. However I find I am having trouble yawning. It is painful at the end of the yawn and feels like a sharp stratchy feeling in my throat. What do you think this could be? I feel I can't yawn fully like I could before.

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain white pustules at the back of throat along with pain while swallowing and yawning is indicative of infection in throat and in case if viral is suspected there can be secondary bacterial infection as white spots can be pus pockets..
For confirmation consult an Otolaryngologist or an ENT expert and get evaluated..
He can do investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis..

You can be advised antibiotics like Augmentin OR Azithromycin to resolve the infection,anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can be taken to relive pain, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can be very much relieving, you can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat..
-Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine, gargle with antiseptic solution like few drops of betadine in water, chew Vitamin C pellets to boost up the immunity..
-Avoid spicy and chilled foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
