OBGYN 's  Response
Abnormal uterine bleeding at 52 requires a full evaluation including biopsy of the lining of the uterus, and ultrasound as well as lab work. If all that is normal and bleeding continues, a hysteroscopic D&C is needed. This means the doctor directly visualizes the lining of the womb, and a biopsy done of any suspicious areas. It is an out patient surgery. Finally if all that is negative and bleeding continues, its time to consider hormonal manipulation-and if unsuccessful, consider simple vaginal hysterectomy. Not all bleeding is bad, but lots of bad things bleed at 52.Please obtain a second opinion. This is not a wait and see problem.
