What Do You Suggest For Strep Throat When I Stop Taking Pills?

this query is about strep throat. Today is the February 12. I got strep on January 31 but didn't go on antibiotics untilled the February 2 . I took penicillin 500 mg twice a day until February 7. I was unable to take the pills that day, I went through the day fine then went to sleep. When I woke up my throat hurt really bad like the strep had come back. Now this is 8 days after I've been sick with strep & 5 days of taking the antibiotics. I rushed home and took a pill & I felt better. Im almost out of pills and I'm worried that when I run out of pills my strep is going to come back. I believe I am starting to get a cold too. Note I am only 16 . Please give advice to what I should do. & also, my tonsils have really bad scarring from strep throat. Is that scarring going to go away?

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having acute follicular tonsillitis giving you this problem.
It seems that penicillin antibiotic might be partially sensitive to bacteria giving you infection again.
Go for higher antibiotic like Azithromicin antibiotic medicine course for 5 days.
Avoid cold drinks, fried and junk food.
Do listerine gargles.
Ok and take care.
