Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, I had my TVS yesterday because om v bleeding for 10 days, the following results are: Uterus : 7.5 x 6.0 x 4.4 cm endometrium: 1.5 cm - thick and hyperechoic with intact subendometrial halo right ovary: 2.3 x 2.8 x2.9 cm left ovary: 3.4 x 3.4x 2.7 cm cervix : 3.7 x 3.1 x 2.9 cm do i have to undergo D and C? i had D and C last november 12, 2015
The endometrium thickness changes through the menstrual cycle, it's thicker in the first half of the cycle as the uterus prepare of an eventual pregnancy. In the second half after the ovulation, if there's not a pregnancy, the the lining become thinner. Anyway, the normal endometrial thickness is consensually decided under 11mm. Over this size the risk of cancer increases (at 11mm it's 7% and increasing related to thickness). So, in your case i would suggest to do microscopic examination. At first, you should consult your ob-gy, which may have more information about your previous examinations and other conditions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
