Hi,
Interpretation of Hep B tests are complex. But let's make it easy in your case.
1. Presence of HBs Ag mean that the person is infected with the virus. However it does not tell about weather it's chronic or acute. It depends on checking the results, if it's positive for more then 6 months then it's chronic if less then 6 months then it's acute. Another way of checking it is to check for anti-HBc
antibodies,
IgG mean chronic, IgM positive mean acute. In your case it can't be said as we don't have the tests in hand.
2. Regarding immunity by the
vaccine, you are right, vaccine offer protection but it's not always the case. So, for this reason, we check the status by checking the anti-HBs antibodies level after completing the course to see if
vaccination was successful. Even if successful it may not give life long protection and need to be checked every five to 10 years.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
