General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Fetal medicine has much evolved in last decade.Fetal heart problems can be studied by 3 or 4D USG scans. MRI may also be done if needful. This enables the doctors to decide about medicines or interventional treatment before birth. This also helps to decide strategies on labor table, preventing complications at birth. Being at 36 weeks of gestation, the doctor's team may decide medical treatment for now, a detailed examination at birth and then follow needful management, whatever suits the situation. You should consult a pediatric cardiac specialist for more personalised advice.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
