Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, i am using Roaccutane 40mg/day, and my test result shows that "Cholesterol Total" is 113 mg/dL, all the other tests( triglycerides, S.G.O.T, S.G.P.T, and Phosphatase Alkaline seem to be completely fine. but this 113 is low, it should be between 130 and 200 i think. is this normal?! and also, my face becomes soo dry sometimes. could you please help?
Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient probably roaccutane which contains isotretinon is responsible as it usually affects cholesterol levels, though it usually raise total cholesterol and triglycerides and lowers HDL. Please get lipid profile repeated from a different laboratory. Your dry skin is a side effect of roaccutane. Roaccutane is a drug which has dangerous side effects, please review with your dermatologist whether he can give you some other drug for acne. Regards
