What Does 5olk/HPF, 0-5 Epithelial Cells/HPF: Gram Negative Rods' Mean And What Are They Reported?
Hi Dr. Grief. I am a nurse practitioner student and am studying pharmacology. I have a question in an assignment that asks,
"What does '>5olk/HPF, 0-5 epithelial cells/HPF: gram negative rods' mean and what are they reported?"
I think part of this relates to the to number of epithelial cells founds in a specimen and indicates potential contamination of a sample, but I am not sure if this is correct. Can you help explain the above?
hi there,>5olk/HPF is not correct I think, 0-5 epithelial cells means that there are that many epithilial cells per high power field of the microscope and gram negative rod signifies gram negative bacilli. This must be for urine microscopy. Kindly check the 1st parameter and write back again so that we can clarify that as well. Hope this helps, take care.
