What Does GOT Value Is 48 U/I And SGPT Value Is 77.6 Indicate?
HELLO DOCTORS, i am 24 yrs male ,weight=60 kg,height=160cm,blood group=o+,B.P=(120/80).i am suffering from bronchial asthma.my company organised a medical test program for all employees & i went through blood test . in medical report:SGOT value is 48 U/I (normal range 0 -37) & SGPT value is 77.6(normal range 0-37). TC/HDL cholestrol ratio=5.62(normal ratio 3.0 to 5.0) LDL/HDL ratio=3.66(1.5-3.5). & other cholestrol values are in normal limit. are these values alarming somethng regarding serious health problem?
Increased SGPT suggests liver injury. It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, dyslipidemia, alcohol, medicines etc. Most probably increased SGPT is due to altered lipid profile in your case.
You need further investigations like viral markers, complete liver function test, ultrasound of abdomen.
In such conditions,I suggest tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months to my patients. It helps in regeneration of liver cells. Increased SGOT is non specific and it increases in many conditions.
You should avoid red meat and high fat milk products.Avoid alcohol if you take it. You should avoid fried and junk food. Statin group of drugs can be prescribed if altered lipid profile findings persists in spite of diet and life style changes.
