What Does HSV 1 - 7.09 And HSV 2 - 6.42 Suggest?

Hi, I tested for std 10 panel a week ago. My results were all negative except for hsv 1 and 2. HSV 1 result was 7.09. HSV 2 was 6.42. I have had the same sexual partner for approx. 7 years, no one else on my end of the relationship. I have never had symptoms of any kind, and until these results, I would have never thought anything was wrong. We tested so we could get married. His results were similar, negative to all but the HSV 1 and 2, his results were very high; HSV 1- 34.90, HSV 2- 23.60. What does this mean, and what do I do now? Thank you, Rhonda McKinney

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

You both seem to have positive tests for type 1 as well as type 2 Hsv.
Hsv is a sexually transmitted disease usually transmitted by close/intimate contact with an infected sexual partner.
Since you have never had any other sexual partner for 7 years, therefore, it is likely that you got the infection either from your sexual partner of 7 years and he in turn from someone else outside of the relationship Or probably before he entered into a relationship with you.
It is also likely that you may have an old infection from your past sexual relationship before you entered this one.
Hving said that infection with herpes can remain clinically silent for long periods of time and many of those who are infected with the virus are not aware of it.
Herpes usually presents with sores/erosions either on the oro-labial mucosa or genital region.
The clinical picture is fairly distinctive to be diagnosed on clinical examination.
