My sonogram shows Left Renal Pelvis Fullness, the urologist said it is small area but recommended CT scan of the kidney. I don t want to be explosed to much radiation (equal to 400 chest x- rays). What can happen if I do nothing, Kidney functions are all normal.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The fullness of pelvis on the left side on a report of a sonogram, it needs to be further evaluated. Mostly hydronephrosis is a possibility. So for that reason urologist suggest CT scan.

If you don't want to expose to radiation, the reason is not justified. The person working in X-ray, CT scan and MRI are continuously exposed to radiation. so don't worry.

As far as your diagnosis is concerned no need to worry. Go for it and have complete Idea about your problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
