What Does MRI Report Suggest?

Hi,Iam manjula .Results of my MRI showsdisc desiccation & small right paracentral disc protrusion at L4-5 causing minimal indentation of right traversing nerve root. Doctor has adviced for one capsule of Neugaba M 75mg to be taken for a month at night .Is physeotherapy or surgery required for this type of problems. Can spine exercises be helpful for me in relieving pain. Please suggest

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is degeneration of lumbar spine disc between L 4 and L 5. This is resulting in the disc herniating between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication like Neugaba M. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable. Surgery is indicated for severe pain not responding to medications taken for few months.
