What Does Osteophytes In Rib And Mild Costotransverse Osteoarthritis Of Thoracic Spine Mean?

I have been told that I have osteophytes involving the rib heads of multiple upper thoracic ribs and there is mild costotransverse osteoarthritis in the upper levels of the thoracic spine. What does this mean and does this account for pain in my back?
