What Does Prednisolone Do After Suddenly Losing Mobility, Possibly From An Injury Or Stroke?

I have been given prednisolone 5mg for my cat. I was taking her to the vet for a toenail problem but she panicked so badly that something happened to her in the carrier. I thought maybe she injured her spine and the vet thought maybe she had a stroke. I did not have money for a lot of tests and having my own physical problems and living on a small disability. I brought my kitty home unable to move much at all and the vet gave me the prednisolone. I am hesitant to try to use it without knowing exactly what is wrong and what it does.
