What Does Small Focal Laminar Tear Involving The Left Labrum At 12:00-1:00 Near The Labral Cartilaginous Junction Indicate?
my MRI results : Small focal laminar tear involving the left labrum at 12:00-1:00 near the labral cartilaginous junction. A tiny focal intrameniscal or perimeniscal cyst is involved. How is this managed because I am experiencing severe pain upon walking or bearing weight? I really don't want surgery because I hav e a large family to support. I am a nurse, female and 65 yrs. old.
Hi, Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic. Labrum is a covering around the articular surface to increase the articular surface of a joint. It is divided according to clock positions when seen en-face. In your case, there is a small tear from 12-1 'o clock position. There is a tiny focal perimeniscal cyst as well which usually indicates a small tear in the meniscus. These tears are causing you pain and are usually managed by surgical interventions. It is best to get an arthroscopy done and if the tear are small they can be managed by arthroscopy and you will not be required to undergo an open surgery. Recovering from an arthroscopy is fast and easy so you can join work earlier as well. Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards, Dr. Pankaj Nagori Specialist Radiologist
