What Does X Ray Showing A Black Spot On The Bone Causing Pain Indicate?

My father has had sever wrist pain and swelling of the hand, wrist, forearm for a couple of months. X-Ray showed nothing so they sent him for MRI. MRI indicated some soft tissue damage so they gave him a cortizone? shot and sent him home. It worked for about a week then swelling and pain returned. He went back to doctor who gave him another cortizone shot, under an x-ray so he was getting it into the correct spot. He mentioned that my father has a black spot on his bone in the area that is causing pain, but sent him on his way to see if the second shot works. Should I be concerned over the black spot?

Thanks for asking me this quetion.

In x - Ray show black spot it indicate some abnormalities. You have to do none scan also.

Check your calcium level .Osteoporosis is also ruled out.
Check after sometime in x Ray radiolucency spred or not.
If it spred than metastatic cancer can rule out.
In severe case bone marrow biopsy can do.
sarcoma can also rule out.

Cortisone help up to decrese swelling area.so continue it .
Follow your doctors advise also.
