What Does A TSH Level Of 0.06 Indicate?

I am a 70 YO female who had her thyroid removed 30 years ago. Since then I have been on replacement hormone (Synthroid and more recently, Levothyroxin). My last TSH test showed a level of 0.06. My doctor reduced the Levothyroxin from .112 to .088mcg. I questioned this but his answers weren t logical to me. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Levothyroxine is the treatment of choice for hypothyroidism. Serum TSH should be measured to monitor for adequate replacement. TSH is measured 6–8 weeks after initiation of levothyroxine and then annually once you are on a stable dose of levothyroxine. You need to take levothyroxine for life-long.
Both under treatment and over treatment are very common in treatment of hypothyroidism. You are getting over treatment. The normal range of serum TSH is 0.4 – 4 mIU/L. Your serum TSH is 0.06 mIU/L. This is very low level and this is due to high dose (112 mcg) of levothyroxine. So dose of levothyroxine needs to be reduced to 88 mcg.
Advice
1.     Continue with levothyroxine 88 mcg
2.     Investigation – serum TSH after 8 weeks of 88 mcg of levothyroxine treatment
3.     Consult your doctor after 8 weeks with report of serum TSH. You can write here also
Thanks
