I have an irritating bump right above my upper lip. It has a very small black looking head on it. I ve been breaking out recently so I thought it was a pimple. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It looks like an ingrown hair, an ingrown hair is a condition in which a hair instead of growing outward curls backwards and grow toward the skin. It leads to formation of a bump that can be painful at times. So my suggestion is to apply an antiseptic ointment over it and do cool compresses over it. At times it gets better with it and you can then remove the hair. But in case if it doesn't improve or continue to grow, consult an emergency department and get it evaluated. An incision can be given and the hair is removed followed by application if antibiotic ointment so that to heals well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
