What Does A Blister On The Hand Indicate?

My boyfriend has a raised spot that is on the top and near the center of his hand. It looks almost like a wart but seems translucent and has no center or dots. He has tried to cut it to drain it and it bleeds. He has had it for months. It does not cause him any pain. I also have noticed the same type of cyst looking spot on the top of his father s hand. He says he is going to treat it with wart treatment to see if that decreases the size or helps at all. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, the blister sounds to be post inflammatory lesion with a thick wall or possible bursa cyst, ganglion around the wrist.
* A consultation with an expert surgeon is warranted to cure it and avoid any further unwanted outcomes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
