What Does A Blister On The Lips Indicate?

Hello, I am a 26 year old female and I ve had a small bump on my lip for about 6 months. It has not grown in size since noticing it and it lays underneath the skin. It appears to be a black color. No pain, no blistering, no other symptoms. I usually never notice it, but it eventually gets irritated maybe and pops out as a bump. So, most of the time it lays flat inside my lip, but eventually pops out forming a bump. I can also push it back in. I ve tried to diagnose myself by looking at pictures.... from Venous Lakes, and blood blisters, to lip cancers. Either way, I do not believe it will go away on its own. As an added note, I do often rip the skin off of my bottom lips when I am nervous, I try to stop. Not sure if it s trauma related due to me biting or chewing on the lip. Thank you.

Hello,

Well, the lump you are talking about if it is on the inner side of lip then it can be a mucous cyst or a mucocele. If it is on the outer surface then it can be hypertrophied sebaceous gland or soft tissue hyperplasia or cyst. For confirmation, you should consult an oral or general physician and get evaluated. A clinical examination can help in diagnosis. If it is a cyst or a mucocele or any kind of hyperplasia. Then it can be removed surgically. If it does not look cancerous from the explanation so do not worry and get it checked.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
