What Does A Brown Line On The Big Toe Indicate?

My 12 year old Caucasian son has a brown line on his big toe. The podiatrist treating him for a planters wart noticed it and sent us to a dermatologist. The dermatologist wants to do a biopsy to clarify what it is. Are there other cause for this brown line than melanoma ? Everything I read online makes it sound as if it is definitely cancerous. Thank you.....

Hi,

Please note that it is very difficult to comment without looking the lesion with own eye and final verdict is with biopsy. I recommend biopsy also.
