Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently noticed a dark irregularly shaped spot on side of my scalp - brownish/blackish, I think, but can t see that well and afraid to look too closely. I had a Basal cell growth removed (MOHS) about 2 yrs ago, high on my forehead (~1 inch into my hairline). This is sort of above left ear. I have blonde hair, which is very fine, fair/medium skin and am nervous this new spot could be another potential skin cancer. I m having it looked at today by my derm, but wondered what is the likelihood of having a skin cancer on the scalp, under hair? Thank you. I m 49 yo female.
* Basal cell conditions can present over scalp as well (though less frequent).
* Immediately consult your dermatologist and get a biopsy done for confirmation and further proceedings.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
