What Does A Bulge On The Left Side Of The Abdomen Indicate?

I had laparoscopic appendectomy one week ago. I have a bulge on my left abdomen that pretty much appeared shortly after surgery. It hurt in that spot. When I stand up my left side is noticeably bigger than my right side. I also had low grade fever a few days like days 4 & 5 post opp. My mom has a hernia and I swear it looks like this. I almost went back to the ER. It’s tender if I push on it. Do I need to go back to hospital? I have follow up appt tues.
