I went to a doc for my normal pregnancy check up.. Im 15 weeks and 5 days pregnant.. I ws told tht my baby has a cyst in the brain and a dark shadow on the kidney.. I m supper worried.. I ll have another another ultrs sound this coming week.. If wt I was told is correct, what is going to happen to the baby?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Cysts in the fetal brain is an abnormal finding and there can be many possibilities like: 1. Dandy walker malformation 2. Porencephaly 3. Posterior gossamer cysts 4. Dilated lateral ventricle Since fetal kidney is also having some dark shadows, which may be some mass or tumour, there may be a syndrome present in the fetus in which several congenital anomalies of different fetal organs are present. I would suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that you can get a detailed anomaly ultrasound done and an amniocentesis done for fetal chromosomal analysis. Further decision has to be done accordingly . Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
