What Does A Dilated Bile Duct Indicate?

I have sarcodosis and my rheumatologist jx at did a CT scan and things for the at looked good. However she said I had a dialated bile duct and something on my liver. When I asked about t he liver she said it could be a vein?? I had my gallbladder removed in 1995. She said I needed an MRI to further see what is going on. I need to know if this could be en cancer and if so what kind. I am an 63 year old female scared to death!!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A semi-dilated bile duct is normal after removal of the gall bladder. You should not be worried, the MRI is just to be sure.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
