What Does A Drop In Blood Sugar Level After Taking Metformin Indicate?
My husband checked his blood sugar at around 6:30 pm it was 148 he ate dinner and took his meds, metformin 1000 mg he went to lay down at about 8:30 pm and he told me he wasn t feeling right so I checked his blood level and it was at 61 so I gave him some sugar pills 3 of them and a few chunks of pineapple to bring it up. Do you know what could have caused him to drop after he took his meds with dinner.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Drop in blood glucose level after taking Metformin is not a abnormal finding. It means his body is producing insulin naturally & after taking 1000mg the insulin which was present in blood decreased glucose level even more strongly due to action of metformin First of all 148 blood gluse level at around 6:30 pm was normal & he need not to take such a strong dose of metformin. Next time give him 500 mg of metformin twice a day, if sugar levels come normal. If in future still his glucose levels fall visit a physician
Don't worry he would be fine Hoping your query is solved
