What Does A Hard Lump Around The Navel Indicate?

I have a hard spot in my belly area that about 4-6 months ago was size of a golf ball. Hard and didn t hurt. Today I noticed it is now tender, the size of a grapefruit and beginning to distort my navel. What can this be? If I lean against the kitchen counter....well, I can t lean against it because it hurts now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Hard lump what you are noticing in the naval region appears to be sebaceous cyst.
You need to get it removed by undergoing a local surgical procedure called incision and drainage.
It will be an out patient procedure done under local anaesthesia. A course of oral antibiotics and analgesic medications needs to be taken following the procedure.
Depending on the extent of incision, it may require alternate wound dressing.
Kindly consult Surgeon in this regard for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
