What Does A Hard Lump On The Butt Cheeks Indicate?

Hi, my wife is worried as she has a hard lump under the skin of her butt cheek. It s not visible from the surface but you can feel it. She went to the docs today who says she needs to have an ultrasound to determine if it s a cyst jn the first instance. My wife is worried as she has previously had breast cancer.

Hello,

Hard lump on the butt cheek may be any one of the following:
1) Pilonidal cyst
2) Furuncle
3) Carbuncle
4) Hydradenitis suppurativa
5) Tuberculous granuloma
6) Syphilitic granuloma
7) Abscess

As she is already examined by a doctor, she needs only tests like ultrasound imaging to know what the cyst contains. The treatment of the cyst depends upon the cause.
1) Excision of the lump may be necessary.
2)lump is sent for pathology testing after excision.
3) antibiotics will be subscribed depending upon the infective status of lump.
She doesn't need to worry as it most probably is not related to breast cancer. She needs to be stress free. Most probably it might be a boil or furuncle.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Your wife is suffering from a hard lump on the butt cheeks. She has history of breast cancer. It may be indicative of boil, carbuncle or furuncle. The infection may be caused by a hair follicle that has a small collection of pus (abscess) under the skin. You have not informed if its painful and filled with pus. Abscess are larger and deeper than boils and may need to be incised and drained.

You are suggested to get your wife clinically examined by a GP. She may be asked to get few blood tests and imaging tests done to rule out any malignancy. If cyst is detected then it may need to be removed surgically. At time, ingrown hair can also present with such symptoms. It is commonly treated with antibiotics, steroid creams to reduce redness and swelling.

Antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, and painkillers are prescribed after incision, drainage or surgery to help the wound heal faster. She should take care of her hygiene and do not let the wound get infected as it heals. For better healing she should control her blood sugar levels. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
