What Does A Infected Cyst On Back Indicate?

I have a cyst on my back. I ve seen a doctor about it and there s no concern of anything cancerous-it s just been diagnosed as a cyst. My husband told me tonight that the skin around it smells. I rubbed my hand over it and it does smell. Is this normal? What can I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, if it is diagnosed as a cyst and it smells then u can get it removed by simple surgical excision under local anesthesia, its hardly a 10 -15 minutes minor OT procedure or punch biopsy excision is another procedure.Post- operative oral antibiotics will be required.
If it would be removed with its sac and contents then chances of recurrence would be less although one is having tendency to develop cyst then chances of recurrence will be there at the same site.
Don't worry go to surgical specialist.
