What Does A Large Bump On Roof Of The Mouth Indicate?

I have a largish bump (maybe 1/2 inch round) that I thought was a blister on the roof of my mouth behind the front teeth. It is very painful and my whole mouth, teeth and gums are very sore, right down to the back of my tongue and throat. I actually have headaches and pain/pressure behind the eyes as well. It isn t really responding to Tylenol and It is hard to eat anything. I am existing on Italian ice right now, which doesn t really help the pain. What could it be, how long should I wait, and should I see a dentist or a GP? Thanks -- Anne Marie

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Oral ulcers may be due to aphthous ulcers or hand foot mouth disease or viral infection or candida rash etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

Use cap. vitamin A, Dentacain gel local application.

If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
