What Does A Lump On Ankle Indicate?

I have a lump (cyst?) on the instep of my ankle. It s about the size of a walnut. It is painless and my dermatologist asked if I wanted it removed and if not he said it was harmless. It is very unsightly. I m wondering if I should just go ahead and have it removed. I m 64 and it developed about 9-10 months ago.

Hi, If I were your treating Doctor for this case of an ankle lump, I would come up with only one and one possibility that is a sebaceous cyst! Nothing to worry about this and try not to get infected there! But surgical excision only treats it!

I suggest you to go for an FNAC test of the lump for confirmation and to relieve your concerns!

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
