What Does A Lump On Back Neck Under The Hairline Indicate?

I have a lump on the back of my neck, just under my hairline. It seems sore to the touch and I have been feeling slightly dizzy. Saw my family doctor and he said it s just a lymph node, and not to touch it. However, I do keep poking at it which could be causing pain?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You may have some posterior cervical lymphnode enlargement. It may be due reactive hyperplasia mostly. Rarely it may be due to some other cause like tuberculosis, lymphoma or other lesion. You should go fine needle aspiration cytology to confirm the diagnosis. Then you should take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
