What Does A Lump On The Calf Indicate?

for several years I have had an odd bulge mid front calf which seems to engorge when kneeling...I am starting to have discomfort in or around that area when I walk which is daily 5 of 7 days at least 1/2 mile morning and end of day. I do have spinal stenosis which scares me to think there is pain in areas I just don't feel anymore..on meds for high blood pressure and depression...question: can blood clots linger for years before they burst?
