What Does A Lump On The Index Finger Indicate?

I have a growth the size of a pea on my index finger, caused when I tried to cut it open when it was smaller. A wire from a bicycle lock had pierced the finger and caused a small grain sized growth that was annoying. When the growth became pea sized nothing seemed to shrink or stop the pain!
