What Does A Lump On The Left Side Of The Head Indicate?

I have a chronic tender spot on the left side of my head, between the back and front of my head. When I press on it, it is painful, however, it is a "good" hurt. The area feels warm to the touch. It also itches quite a bit. I have a stiff neck down the left side of the back of my neck. It often feels as though there are bugs crawling around, but I think it is nerve-related. I use a heating pad on it, which helps for a few minutes, and I also bend my head forward and pull it down as much as I can, to stretch those muscles on the left side of my neck, which relieves the pain for a few minutes as well.
