What Does A Lump On The Neck Indicate?

my 3yr old daughter came to me complaining about her neck bothering her and I looked and noticed a lump on her collar bone she says it bothers her I tried touching it but she would pull away. when I finally was able to touch it it felt soft the lump also looked red
