What Does A Lump On The Upper Arm Indicate?

I have a hard lump under the skin on my upper arm that looks like a bruise on the outside and feels like one that s almost well. I think it s been there about 6 mths. I recently had an ultrasound on it which come back inconclusive and now I m being sent to a general surgeon.
